Locating an Address

EarthaMapsä can locate streets by name, limit a search to a particular ZIP Code and even mark the location of a particular street number on the map.

To locate an Address:

1.    At the bottom of the map display screen, click the Find tab to display the Find dialog box.

2.    Select Street Address from the Search By drop-down list box. A list of search criteria formats appears below the list box.

3.    Enter the address you wish to find in the Search For text box (for example, 524 Forest Ave). Do not use punctuation. For more precise searching, follow the street name with a comma and either the ZIP Code containing the street (for example, 524 Forest Ave, 04101) or the city and state (for example, 524 Forest Ave, Portland, ME).

4.    Click Search. If EarthaMaps finds an exact match, a map of the location appears.

§    If EarthaMaps is unable to find an exact match for your criteria, a list of the closest matches appears within the Please Choose list box. Select the desired item and then click the View button to view the map.

§    If none of the items match the street you want to locate, click the Change My Search button to begin a new search.

TIP:

EarthaMaps looks for exact matches to whatever character sequence you type into the Find text box. To increase the number of matches, type only a few characters, remove abbreviations and generic terms (such as "road") from the search text and spell out numbered streets, such as "Fifth" in place of "5th."
